Thoughts on Developer Productivity in 2026
Some random thoughts on tools, AI, and the future of building software.

The shape of a good day
Productivity is less about doing more things and more about protecting the conditions that make good work possible.
The best tools disappear into the background. They help us keep a thread, make a decision, and return to the work without asking to be noticed.
A smaller loop
AI makes the feedback loop shorter, but the judgment still belongs to the person building. The useful question is not whether a tool can produce more output, but whether it helps us make better choices.
That is the part worth designing for: fewer interruptions, clearer context, and enough room to think before shipping.
